How did the hub bushings fair on your 1.5 over the 7 years or so? i.e, no issues, or had to be replaced?
If your prior RF was parked outside, used as a car etc, did you ever have issues with leaks or anything?

It was a demo at a different dealership so the salesman drove me there and I drove it back!

Roof open! Excellent drive! Not quite mine yet but am extremely pleased with the deal!

Front airdam skirt, side airdam skirts, rear under skirt, rear spoiler, sport exhaust, lowering suspension spring, reflector set, side indicators (dark), locking wheel nuts, aluminium acceleration brake clutch and footrest pedals! All included!!

I think I I secured a really good deal,

Hi ND12,

The only issue I had was the drivers door window regulator rusted, cable broke and the window dropped into the door cavity! Hard to find the replacement part because it was during Covid!

My 1.5 has just under 28,000 on the clock. I think the dealer will sell for around £13,000!

Nice. When you get used to it write up on how you find it compared to your 1.5: Ride quality, speed, brakes (front brembos v the normal stock ones of your other car etc), handing etc. :+1:

Hi ND12,

First ride out today! The difference in acceleration was the first thing I noticed! Impressed!

The seats are very comfortable and found the ability to raise the front section of the drivers seat very good. I tend not to drive in a way that needs hard braking but did find the Homura’s brakes very responsive and found that extra reassuring,

I do think the body kit, spoiler on boot lid do set the Homura off nicely!

Interesting that. I find the ND’s brakes naff, so good to hear the Brembos are good. Do you get that initial ‘feeling’ that the brakes are better than your prior 1.5 ND?

Amazingly bizarre thing that a mechanic did! I had 2 Garmin dash cams in my 2017 RF and wanted them installed in the Homura!

The mechanic stuck the magnetic disc to the rear window and not to the wind deflector! The cable was fixed firmly with cable ties!! I explained the error a few times but it fell on deaf ears!

So I suggested open the roof and watch where the rear window goes, and what what will happen to the cable!

I haven’t taken the disc off for fear of scratching the window!

One thing that I’ve noticed about the Brembos is that after driving on a duel carriageway for some distance in the wet/rain and so not using the brakes, the initial bite when stopping at the end of a slip road for example is poor. It’s like the pads are not clearing water from the disc surface as well as standard brakes. I’m guessing that the pad gap with the brakes off is larger, probably a fixed caliper verses sliding caliper thing.

That is very strange, John, as I found the brakes on my own ND to be quite impressive. I never had any concerns at all.

I find the initial bite on the ND’s brakes (stock 2L ND1) is pants anyway. Worst thing about the car imo. I’ve test drove a few too to compare. They actual remind me of an old Suzuki Alto I used to have :slight_smile:

I’d agree; my first time using the Homura brakes in the wet on a motorway was ‘interesting’. It reminded me of an early Elise with MMC brakes.

Once the water had cleared from the disks a fraction of a second later and normal performance resumed all was well.

Interesting takes on brakes.

Every MX-5 I’ve driven (quite a few test drives NB, NC, ND) has had excellent brakes with instant feel after putting pressure on the pedal.

But sometimes even the best brakes need occasional heavy footedness to de-glaze them, especially so if one does a lot of lifting in anticipation of stopping and gentle driving. With these it can be worth doing a couple of high speed crash-test stops (in a safe place) before an MOT.

Other times they are simply dangerously wrong as I discovered on a brand new Megane (with EBA) I hired in France maybe ten-twenty years ago!
Cold, we were chucked into the windscreen at the least touch on the brake pedal; hot, they faded to nothing at all in an emergency stop on the motorway!
Hire company mechanic came out to our gite and changed the pads, problem solved.

However, from new our Mazda3 was another matter entirely, the first maybe 20% of pedal pressure did almost nothing, but then OK.
After a year and 5K miles and no improvement, I swapped out the almost still as new OEM front pads (with Mazda and Ferodo stamped into the metal) for Brembo pads and suddenly the feel was the same as on the MX-5; excellent and progressive.
Those Brembos are still on it, but I think they might need changing soon.

Hi everyone,

I have a question about how the power to charge my mobile phone has been done. The adapter for the 12v socket is an Amazon adapter with 2 USB A slots.

The red cable from the phone holder plugs into one port. I would have thought that the red cables connection would provide power to the phone but there is another (black) cable from the adapter that is routed to and plugged into one of the USB C ports.

I did not expect the mobile phone to be wired in this way and I don’t understand why the black cable is necessary.

I am awaiting a response from the mechanic at the dealership regarding the connections they installed to charge my mobile phone!

Edit ….unless it powers a dash cam too.

Just one cable from the console USB-c to your phone is all that’s required for charging and android auto.

I have an ND1, that’s all I do, whether you need even a connection for android auto to work in your new ND (maybe wireless) I’m unsure, others will know.

Android Auto is wireless! I use the 12v plus adaptor to keep cables tidy, On my old 2017 RF I used that phone holder and with the phone hard wired.

I have 2 flash drives and I prefer to use those in the USB C ports.

My old RF was 2017. My new RF, collected on Monday is a Homura,

The mechanic at the dealership used that adapter with the extra cable in the Homura.

I wondered why….
