I can 100% recommend this Gearbox Oil from Martin (DuratecNC above). My NC 3 gearbox was so bad I was suspecting the Synchro was damaged. Has this fitted and the results were night and day !

The 6 speed NC box is also notorious for this, changing the oil for syntrans does make an improvement, but I find a change of driving style works for me.
When changing from 1st to 2nd, take your time. Don’t rush it, just wait a Split second in neutral.
When the car is cold I shift old skool double clutch 1-2-3 as though there were no synchros. After a few miles they start to slot in nicely. They will go in when shifting normally cold but it’s not pleasant. Mine is a very low mileage car that’s only previous owner was an old man so once I’d seen how prevalent the issue is across the cars I wasn’t concerned. Redline MTL has made it nicer when warmed up but not helped much cold.
