Germany Holiday

Location: Just over Dutch border, Eifel mountains region

When: 13/06/2015 10:00

we have discovered an area of outstanding natural beauty just across the Dutch Border in Germany. The Eifel Mountains boast deep forests, mountains nearly as high as those in the Black Forest, picture postcard villages with timbered houses and the Ruhr reservoir, famous for one of the dams that were destroyed in the second world war (don’t worry it’s all been made good). The area is also famous for wild cats that have recently been re-introduced for breeding purposes. And then of course there are the proper MX5 roads with hairpin bends and twists and turns. Nearby there are the Borders of Holland and Belgium as well as the old Imperial town of Aachen with Cologne also an hour drive away.

We have been able to secure 10 double rooms (3 x Standard and 7 x Standard

Plus in a nice hotel http://www.langeman.nl/en/homepage/ on the outskirts of Monschau a delightful little town full of timbered houses, a castle and a river meandering through the town. The hotel has great facilities including a sauna and there is a sportscentre and pool nearby. For the adventurous there is also a summer toboggan centre. Monschau is only a few miles from the Ruhr Dam and the Eifel mountains. Monschau is also famous for its annual Christmas Market but hopefully there won't be any tinsel in sight in June.
