Glass Wind Blocker

Here are two pictures of the glass wind blocker I have just finished today.

Pictures not too good as I took them in my garage with a Halogen over head light on.

Will post some more later after I have done the write up.

I am having problems at the moment with my Computer.

Glass??? - or do you mean perspex/acrylic?

Topic moved to Bodywork, Interior & Styling forum due to content.

Hi it looks good. What is it made from, and will you be making them to sell.
Cheers Andy

I mean GLASS. It is 6mm Glass cut to shape and holes drilled in it, then it is heat treated to make it what is known as Toughened glass.

As said it is toughened glass and no I won’t be making them to sell. The holes for a start have to be drilled to suit whatever shape the Style Bar is and each one would have to be individually fitted as I found while preparing to fix the glass to my Style Bar, the Style Bar was not perfectly symetricall and was slightly twisted. This meant that some adjustments had to be made to ensure the glass was not in tension when the holding screws were fitted.

 Looks fantastic.
What benefits are there in having it in glass rather than perspex? I’m sure you told me in an email but I can’t find it.

Glass will be stiffer and won’t vibrate, easy to keep clean and most important it should not get scratched…It looks good too.[;)]

This morning I took my car out on the Motorway to test run the glass windblocker I made. It does the job of stopping back draughts into the cockpit extremely well particularly at 70mph.

To correct a statement I made earlier about vibration, although it doesn’t seem to vibrate on good roads, I found that when the car drives over some uneven part of the road the long straight piece of the glass at the bottom of the windblocker will flex as much as 2 to 3mm.and it rattled against the Style Bar. The easy cure for this was to fix a couple of rubber washers between the glass and the Style Bar at this point.
