into 5 ownership.
I was here about 3 years ago (for 1yr or so) with a UK silver 1996 1.8iS. Since then (I like to change cars a bit more often than is healthy)I have owned a Seat Leon Cupra (terrible) and a Caterham 7 Supersprint on twin 40’s (spine tingling, testicle tightening fun). I just sold the Cat and have just purchased this very tidy (resprayed) 1992 1.6 Eunos for £1500 :

It was originally up for £2500 so I reckon I got a bargain. It’s totally standard except for a cheap ebay air filter and has been meticulously serviced by the previous owners. It’s had a recent cambelt, alternator belt, front and rear discs/pads/calipers, new tyres. The engine and gearbox are sweet and it pulls surprisingly hard through the gears (feels much more eager and revvy than my old 1.8, though I’m sure it is actually not quicker). It used to be mariner blue but has had a good re-spray done in Laguna Blue. My plans are to sort the suspension (probably Puredrive setup), put on gold 15" BBS wheels (my wife is shocked at the bling idea, but I love the gold BBS and Laguna blue combo), fit a JR CAI, 1.8 front disks, brace up the front struts with a mazdaspeed or triangular brace (like Saz’s). Phil @ P5 is developing a UK version of the butterfly brace which I am interested in too… watch that space. I also want to sort out the exhaust manifold/cat/exhaust with a view to installing ITRBs or motorbike carbs in the future. I need to do some more research regarding the best suspension set up for fast road and occasional track use and the best exhaust combo for an NA car.
Anyway… enough about my car and my plans. I look forward to chatting to y’all over the coming months (and years!?) 'cos I’m planning on keeping this little puppy for the long haul !!!.
