I have never been to any of these and never really heard of any of my friends bought cars from auctions
just wondering will you actually be able to save money from buying in auction? I know there is no definite answers butis it likely to be cheaper than dealers/traders?
are the cars safe to buy? e.g. hpi clear or history available?
I have bought from auctions many times
The thing i would say is set yourself a budget and keep to it, and do you homework
I use Chelmsford auctions and they have many different types of auction (Wednesday is leasing car day) , It always buyer beware , but go on the auctions website and read their terms. Once the hammer falls your committed and remember you have to pay immediately and there are fees on top of the hammer price
Yes you can save money but not on all cars, some just have more appeal. If you can get a copy of glasses take it to check what the trade/retail prices are likely to be, and then have a good walk round and pick the cars you are interested in.
Go a couple of times without buying and just watch for a hour or so to see how it all works
Good Luck
Yep me to , I have bought dozens of times , was a qualified mechanic so know what i am looking for and have made lots of money but also come unstuck a few times with bad motors that looked ok . If you don’t know what you are doing you can get stung really easily.
If you are going for the first time , good advice from previous post , go a few times just to look . and I would try to take someone with you that does know what they are up to .
And Good luck
yes many times
But here is my GOLDEN RULE : never go to a none trade day and the higher the quality the better. I do not expect to see families on a day out.
Blackbush i was told last week was a dream come true for many as the prices where low ! And these where luxury cars .
Apparently prices on popular cars (family diesels) have risen sharply. This is because people have stopped buying new cars, so no trade-ins and companies are extending rather than renewing their leases. Bargains on 4x4s though!
