If you are having to sign in on every visit, can you please let me know a few things so I can replicate it, and pass what the developers will need to know on to them.
When you say sign in, do you mean click the sign in link, and not have to enter any details, or do you have to enter your email/password?
Have you checked you have cookies enabled for the site? Yes/No
What browser/OS are you using?
I know this is a bit of a pain, especially if you have already put it in a thread elsewhere, but the more we can help the developers, the faster things will happen, and it of course saves the club money on the forum budget, which can go towards developing our own improvements to the forum, or whatever.
I have the same issue, same responses to your questions but with IE7. The shortcut (messages you haven’t read’) doesn’t show up until I’ve clicked ‘Log in’.
I’ve been to the page where you have to click ‘Remember settings’ several times. It is ticked but doesn’t have the desired effect. (
What he said, Firefox 3.0.6 on Windows 7, works fine on other forums including MX-5 Community which also appears to be Community Server or whatever this is.
Use this link http://www.mx5oc.co.uk/forum/r.ashx?3 and it will automatically log you in, and return you to the main forums screen, or present you with the login screen if there is genuinely no trace of who you are (if you don’t click the ‘remember me’ box, or delete your cookies for example). OR, you can of course use http://www.mx5oc.co.uk/forum/forums/TopicsNotRead.aspx to go straight to the not read page - this should also log you in automatically
If you currently use the links toolbar, or favorites to access the forum, just replace the current address with the one above. It’s not an ideal solution, but I’m sure everybody will admit it is better than nothing…
If you don’t use any sort of link, and type the address each time then this is not an ideal solution, but hopefully the developers can get something proper quite soon - failing that, make more of a commitment and get the site in your favorites! [:)]
If you are accessing the forum through the main OC site, then you should not have an issue. If you do, login, and logout, close your browser, and login to the OC site here, and check the box - it should work fine that way. Only the main forum page(s) is/are not checking the cookies.
