Hazard switch

Simple question that I am sure someone can help with. 1991 1.6 Roadster, should the hazard light switch be illuminated with the side lights on (as the headlight pop up switch is just below it). I know it does not flash when turned on as the dash lights indicate that but just thought that perhaps it should light up.

Next thing, if so how is the switch removed to gain access to the bulb or does the whole centre section of dash have to be removed, which looks rather involved. If there is a bulb any idea of type or number.

Thanks in advance

It should have nighttime illumination yes. You have to take the whole radio surround off to get to the back of the switch & change the bulb (it is fitted in the side of the switch unit). Look in the How To forum for a guide how to remove the surround. I don’t know which bulb it uses but it’s probably a Mazda only one. The bulb & holder come as one. The Mazda part number for the bulb is NA01-66-462, the description is BULB,SWITCH-RR-DEFOGER.

Thanks, will have to look into that then.

A 5mm LED fits nicely into the hole left by the bulb. All you need to do is wire it up to the sidelights as I did with a blue one.

Love the LED’s in the vents!

Have’nt you seen the whole ensemble? Including footwell LEDs (passenger side now complete but not in pics)

Just noticed that the pop-up LED is off. Must have come out of the holder.
