Hi,
I have recently aquired my Roadster and is very nice overall. The paitn and body are the worest bits but mainly in my perfectionist eye.
I gave it a quick go the other sunday.
I used a jet wash at good distance to get the worst of the dirt off and then used meguires gold glass shampoo and the two bucket method.
Then i did one coat of meguires paint cleaner followed by one coat of meguires polish.
I realised I was runnign out of time so jumped to a wax stage of P21s to try to protect the plished layer.
Obviously the five hours I spent is in excess of what most people do even some enthusiasts .
However I found that although it looked fantastic and the results really showed a massive improvement and the rain is running off the wax, I can see a slight haze - i hesitate to call it milky, effect as there is lots of light scratching on the surface of the wings and doors etc. nothing you can normall pick up unless you are very critical.
I think this is light scratching or swirl in the laquer (its metalic Montego blue).
Has anyone had any good results with a polish or glaze by hand to correct this type of effect?
I have not got a corrective polisher machine and although think id enjoy one, cant spend the money on that sort of thing right now.
I have a feeling a cable polisher will make light work of exactly the problem i have.
Regards
Jonathan
Trying to remove scratches by hand can be a long and time consuming job. A machine is a lot easier as long as you are careful and use the correct grade of compound and buffing wheel. McGuire’s Scratch X is very good to use by hand, and I have used it with a polishing machine but it is quite expensive to use it this way.
I have found that Scratch X really brings out a deep rich colour and shine on my Classic Red car. Can’t say how good it is on metallic paint work tho’.
If you can hold out till the ER Tech day in may, will bring my pc and you’re more than welcome to use that.
ohh thats a good offer, thanks.
ill be in touch nearer the time.
I second Scratch-X, i have found it amazing at removing small blemishes, my car is metalic and it works fine
