Headlight bulbs mk3.5

hiya all

what are the required bulbs for both main and dipped beam. Every site I look at says different things.  I’m sure mine are halogen bulbs not hid. 

Also what bulbs are recommended? I used to run piaa competition whites but Can I do better?

Hi alfordmazza, I can confirm that halogens should be fitted - no U.K. Mk 3.5s were fitted with HIDs as original equipment & I believe that the fitment of aftermarket HIDs to any vehicle will shortly result in an MOT fail due to a forthcoming change in MOT test requirements.

I can’t comment though on the best type of halogen bulbs to fit - mine’s still on its factory bulbs & I have to say that I find the lights very good - on both dipped & main beam.

Well thats helped clarify that its halogen bulb.  What type are they?  One site says HB3 another says H7 for both.  which is the correct answer?

Hi again alfordmazza, your car sounds similar to mine; the Mazda owner’s manual for my car states that the dipped beams are H7 (55W) & the main beams are HB3 (60W)
