Heated rear window help

  1. My model of MX-5 is: 2005 NB

I’ve had my 5 since June. It came with a hard top which I removed, carefully unplugging the cord. It’s still off. Last night I attempted to use the HRW in the soft-top for the first time, but the lamp in the switch did not illuminate when I pushed it in, and I’m pretty sure the window itself wasn’t heating up.

I have been assuming that the soft-top HRW is hard-wired - is this right or do I need to plug it in like the hard-top? Or should I be looking for a blown fuse? The manual is not very helpful.
