Heater metal hose break

Hi all, I’ve got a 1992 mk1 Eunos.

In the past week I replaced my alternator belt, it was running okay but squealed a little and then died on me, I jump started it and then tightened the belt. All seemed to run okay after this and started fine for a few days.

After driving for around 15/20 mins I noticed steam coming from the bonnet, switched car off and opened bonnet. Coolant was leaking out from underneath the car. Managed to find the leak once it had cooled down and looks to be coming from the metal pipe that the heater hose attaches to.

What part do I have to replace for the metal bit, not the rubber hose?

Also don’t know if this is related to anything I may have done on the alternator belt change or is it just bad timing? The water pump and alternator both turned freely before I replaced belt. Also the water temperature sensor looks really dodgy but appears to turn fans on and off so don’t think that would have caused anything.

Thanks!

Here’s the part you needWater pump to bypass pipe

It is held on with one of the exhaust manifold bolts. So soak it with penetrant first. It’ll be a pain to replace!

That’s the one thank you! What would have caused this to crack? Coincidence/old age or something to do with sensor or water pump?

Old age. 36 years old after all.
