Hello from Lancashire (on the hunt for my first MX5)

Hi all Nigel from Lancashire here. Joined the forum to have a flick through the galleries and to see what people have to done to their 5s. Looking for my first mx5. Been to view a couple already but none have taken my fancy so far. Thought I found a gem but turned out to be rotten and even the owner didn’t know (chassis legs).

Hope to get one soon! If anyone knows of any clean none rotten mk1 or mk2 (mk1 preferable) then give me a shout, budget of up to 2.5k (I know its not a massive amount)

I’m looking at 1.8s should I look at 1.6 eunos. Having never driven one I’m put off by on having 115bhp or is that nothing to worry about as its only 15 less than the 1.8uk spec? I know these weren’t built for straight-line speed anyway.

Nice to meet you all
Nigel

Welcome to the club.
Sad to say but this might be the best time due to people being ‘locked down’ with reduced income to buy an MX5 as financial difficulties may force sales.
Take your time choosing, the right car is waiting for you which ever power plant you go for.
Dave.
Lanc’s.

Cheers dave like you say they’re popping up left, right and centre but just finding a rust free one is proving to be a challenge.

Spotted a nice 1.8 mk1 on ebay and I dont mind travelling but can only travel with my dad and obviously he’s got stuff on so hard to get the time to travel.

Cheers again
