Hi, i drive a 1.6 2000 mk 2 red Isola. I live in sunny Bradford . Its my first MX5 and i love it.
The only problem is, i have what my husband thinks is a fuel problem. After changing gear , dumping the clutch and getting back onto the loud pedal the car hesitates…after a couple of seconds she is fine and accelerates smothly until the next gearchange. We used some Redex the other day …but no change.
This is driving me wild as i am getting beaten from the lights by everything.
I’ll get the ball rolling here, with a couple of questions/suggestions…
When was the car last serviced? What condition are the spark plugs in - any symptoms of over fueling?
Is it strictly with gear changes, or just low revs? I mean, if you accelerate such that it clears, but then slow down again, is it the same, or is it fine? If it is fine, then I’d suspect the clutch switch
If not, then the fuel filter, plugs and leads would be where I’d look. Keep in mind that the fuel filter has possibly never been changed…
