Hi from Cumbria

Hi folks - Just got my hands on a 1999 Mk2 1.6, currently in ‘battleship grey’! Bought it to do a rally with my son across Europe next year.

Have to say we both love the car and have decided to ‘splash some cash’ on some TLC.

Car’s had new break discs, pads and callipers, looks like a recent exhaust, new tyres and recent timing belt. Engine is spot on.

Car needs a small amount of welding on the front chassis and a new break line to get it through its MOT. Going to jet wash the grey paint off, as it’s silver underneath. Needs a new hood really and some general maintenance.

Happy days

Hi

Welcome to the forum.

Front chassis legs are a known problem as are sills etc. Did you inspect the front chassis legs with the engine tray removed?

Richard.

Hi Richard

No, it’s what’s been identified by the garage on an MOT that I had done a few days ago. Its booked in for some welding and re-test this week.
