I’ve just bought a 2nd hand HKS Powerflow induction kit for my 1990 Eunos. The foam element is knackered so I’ll need another. Oddly I’m having 2nd thoughts though! Do I go ahead a spend more cash on a new bit of foam or just get a K&N panel and slot it in in 2 mins?
Any thoughts?
…and if I get a new bit of foam any suggestions for good suppliers?
HKS Europe’s website lists loads of UK dealers, such as Graham Goode. Price of a new element was about £20-25, with currency fluctuations, it might be creeping up. Alternateively (though I don’t really recommend it), have a look in Halfords. Larger branches will have Ripspeed foam filters, which seem to be the same sort of size and thickness. Replacement elements are always in the bargain section.
If the filter is of the really old sort (the inner bit separates from the outer), it can be cleaned. Worth a try before fitting. Racingbeat’s website has a reprint of a magazine test of the HKS intake, and its a pretty good intake (if a bit close to the exhaust).
