How to repair a tear

Sure it’s been asked on the old forum…

Have a tear / split on the soft top -  it starts at the base just about in line with the seat belt harness point, looks like it has given way at the base, and it has done it on both sides.

What material / adhesive would you recommend - the split is about 1.5" in length and about 1/2" wide at the base (narrowing at the top - triangle shaped)

 Oh and its a vinyl roof !!!

 Halfords do good soft-top repair kit with great adhesive but it might not cover that much space. Their website might say how wide the patches are. I’ve used it on a longer tear, but not as wide. If you do try it, make sure that the activator in the packet is full before you buy it as it has a tendancy to evaporate from the bottle.
Or maybe try to scavenge some material from elsewhere on the roof?
