There must be a demand out there. Mitsuoka have updated their NC-based conversion to a ND, and have appointed European dealers, including TW Whites, which is the flagship Mazda UK dealership (or the oldest one).

The Spanish company also released local pricing for the new model that starts from €59,000 (about US$72,900 at current exchange rates) for the 132PS 1.5L Heritage Cabrio rising to €82,300 (just over US$100,000) for the 184PS 2.0L Bespoke Targa.

For £30k (the cost of a new MX5), I could get a second hand F-TYpe, Aston Martin etc, so the “could buy for the same money” jibe is false equivalence.
