If you have your phone/broadband package with Homecall or Pipex which as I understand it, is part of the Tiscali group, contact 0871 222 6366 and ask if they can offer you a better deal than the one you have at the moment. I did and I have had my phone call/broadband Package reduced by £15.00 per month plus I get the next three months free, plus I don’t have to change my Email address.

I guess you haven’t really read much of the stuff on this forum. A small amount of non MX5 chat goes on, but non is of the nature that used to plague NMC on the old forum. I have only moderated one topic on this forum and that was because the stuff was getting personal. The atmosphere here is very much more relaxed than it was elsewhere, and apart from a few guys who are still complaining [which they have every right to do] pretty well all of the newer members are very happy with what they see. I don’t think any of the newbies has called for an NMC area. I guess if they want to chat about NMC topics they go elsewhere.

I suspect it’s more of a case of “what you’ve never had you’ll never miss” with the considerable amount of newbies and serious lack of old school members that have now dissapeared…case in point is my last few tech queries…in the forum of old that would have been answered fully in a matter of hours if not minutes…
These days i notice your the one man problem solver.
I don’t think anyone by any measure (other than possibly a new labour type measure) call this new forum a success.
I think that there are a lot of people that would take great offence to both of those comments
There is no denying Geoff’s huge commitment to the forum, and the wealth of knowledge that he shares, but he is by no means the only person that solves problems.
There are not many problems that go unsolved for many hours, and very few which get past the 24 hour mark, which for a forum that has only been active for a few months I would say is exceptionally good.
I don’t think anybody would think that even close to every member would move from the old forum - if the old forum (software and content) was to have been moved to the new address, there would have been a drop in numbers, so when we are starting from scratch, of course there is going to be a decrease in members, and it remains the job of the people left to put in the extra effort to get problems solved, and make the forum a welcome place for more experts to become a part of.
Measuring the “success” of any website, let alone a forum is very hard to do, but I would say that this thread alone proves that we have been succesful in creating an online community.
Why? Because members are taking time out of their day to help other members save money, and get a good deal

Ramsay I am in total agreement with your post, and am in agreement with Pollyana, the forum does need a General non MX5 area to post, OK I’m a new user but I have had to search to find where to put post’s.
Martin your post recommends “Looking for help with something other than your MX-5 try posting here” But Pollyana does not need a HELP plea.
I would have put it in Problems “don’t know which to start” the one it should go in is GENERAL INFORMATION but it is followed with
“A read only forum containing general technical information” I do find “sometimes” it could be made easier.
As previously mentioned this forum is superb, but the General Information forum I feel should be non 5 related, but then perhaps it’s just simple me. [:P]
