Induction kits

Hi all, I’m a newbie Eunos owner! I used to be a Triumph Tart but now am well and truly Mazda’d. My Eunos feels like I’d always wanted my Spitfire to drive but never quite acheived it.

I’ve a 1990 Eunos, all seems original and I’m not keen to make too many changes, who am I to argue with those clever Japanese guys in white coats!? I was however looking at induction kits. May I ask peoples opinions and also has anyone any experience of the cheaper kits that appear on E-bay as sadly budget is a bit of an issue?

Any other suggestions for subtle mods gratefully received!

Don’t expect any massive power increase - just a bit of induction noise, and ignore any Ebay claims of fantastic performance increase!
Your choice - personally I’d just go for a K&N or ITG panel filter replacement.

You can get some good results form a a cAI but many products just offering a cone filter near the exhaust manifold will disapoint in the power stakes but will sond great and mayb e make the car feel a bit revier.
However, like some others im going to be using some parts which i plan on getting cheaply and making my own which will give good result - its never going to be a turbo oor supercharger though but there are some gains to be had if you do it properly.

I bought a cheap kit off ebay. It seems good quality and the cone is the same as the Ripspeed on sold in Halfords. Mine came with the correct mounting plate to connect it to the AFM, I think I paid about £25 in the end. Sounds good, no ‘significant’ power gain really, maybe a bit freer revving.

Be warned though, it didn’t come with any mounting brackets for the AFM. This will be floating in the middle of nowhere once the air box is removed. I ‘fashioned’ something using a bit of metal angle, doesn’t look very nice and is starting to bug me.

Thinking of stumping up for a K&N kit, this comes with mounting brackets and a cold air tube. £70 though.
