Wrt leaving a vehicle 'unsecured. You want to park a motorbike somewhere and try not to be paranoid about it. At least with a top open mx5 it is not as simple as just wheeling it away. And if the steering lock and a wheel lock are on? An old skateboard is all the scumbag needs to push it way.
You end up carrying big chains and such.

Wow ND that’s shocking! Glad I have never suffered that sort of abuse. Jealous thickos sadly.
With my PRHT I leave it all over with the top down, prefer the risk over an half stuck roof in a busy car park with lots of onlookers laughing.
I’ve had an ND Recaro from new it lives outside. The roof is down always unless raining and I have no problem with it. I brush and clean it regularly(tailors brush used). Treat it once or twice a year. Still no need to dye it. Still in great condition after 28000 miles.
