Hi all, I was wondering if I could ask for a little help.
I’ve had a ding in my car recently due to water leakage that had gone across the road and turned to ice. You may or not remember me from this post http://www.mx5oc.co.uk/forum/forums/p/2233/10194.aspx#10194 introducing myself and say a bit of a “hello”. I’m absolutley gutted as I was going to be joining MX5OC at the beginning of march
The insurance company has decided to write the car off, which to be fair I’m not overly surprised at, but what I am surprised at is their valuation (£1100 minus excess). The car was a 1990Mk1 with 105k on the clock. The bodywork was metallic silver with no rust, marks or dents. The hood had only been replaced last year so was in near new condition, wheels were brand new 15" alloys with brand new Yokohomer tyres all round, and the car had 11 months MOT left at the time of the accident. All in all the car was in a really nice condition (I wouldn’t have bought it otherwise).
Having a look around on autotrader and fish4cars, prices vary from £1500 to £2500 for a like for like (age / mileage), so based on the above do you think £1100 is really fair? What do you think the car would be worth?
Thanks for your time
Shaun
