Introducing Monty Zoo (named by my work colleagues) - My 5

my 5

Looks great.  If thats the origional paint then excellent fade free on an early red car.

Not sure about the front number plate though.

 Nice roadster [Y]
Id not want the number plate coveing too much of the “mouth” though.
People have had overheating issues in the past although they had blocked more than yours.
Good to see the red not faded on an early car.

Enjoy

Hi Andrew

Nice Roadster, excellent for year have to agree regarding front number plate tho [:^)] would have to fit http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info.php/products_id/222

but personal choice is everything. [Y]

Zippy [:#]

Very nice and shiney!!! Where does the name come from (or is it rude to ask!)!??

hi all…the car has lots of original features which i love (not into over modification) and the paint work is original and has taken lots of hard work and elbow grease since I purchased it 4 or so months ago. Didn’t want to show pictures until i had her looking somwhere near to how i wanted her (only realised now that i think of the car as a her) Do others think of their cars of a him or a her? Maybe a new thread…I’ll check.

I hadn’t given much thought to the front number plate. I actually don’t mind how it looks but i would be willing to change if it was detremental to its performance.

On a side note. The number plate it came with, i thought it was an Irish plate, but I’ve since been told this might not be true. I did check to see which area of ireland it may refer to but i couldn’t find an area plate number which matched.

Also…the name of the car, which my work colleagues came up with came from a made up name as to what they thought the name of somebody who owns a MX5 MK1 should be called. I’ve had all the jokes since i’ve owned it.

Looking good

I agree about the plate, if you can then go for either an offset or a sticky plate. Much better for the lines of the car.

Are the fog lights set in at different amounts? One looks like it is further out than the other.

No, it is an “it”. A machine, a tool, a thing. I can’t understand the personification of vehicles at all, however much I like them.

the picture with the fornt foglights is taken at a slight angle so they look a little different.

It seems you all have the same opinion on the number plate…i might have to have a look at this.

Whilst I agree that cars are objects without a specific gender I do still give them names, but only if an appropriate one springs to mind. The Mazda is still just the Mazda at the moment…

I know a lot of the folks on here think it’s some form of heresy to have a hardtop fitted to a ‘5, but doesn’t it make a crackin’ little coupe?

My car is called Blue Belle because she’s Very Blue and Very beautiful…

Hi Andrew,

I like the way you have the original Alloys on the car, and the chrome mirrors look good tooSmile

Have to agree about the red paint. Nice to see an early Mark 1 that hasn’t faded.

And congratulations on your choice of colour too, nothing beats a nice shiny red Mark 1Smile

Well i call my Mark 1 ‘Beauty’ and refer to it as a ‘she’, which is strange i know but she’s my partner he he!!!

Cheers

Ben
