iPod to iPhone audio problem

I’ve just bought a 2006 Mx5 and would like to find out my best bet in sorting out the audio.

I have an iphone - this will not connect to the iPod cable that has been fitted to the stock stereo. If anyone can recommend an adapter that works well or perhaps a new sound system that looks good and works well and has bluetooth that would be ideal.

The Apple lightning to audio connector is excellent. I use it to connect iPhone to audio equipment all the time. Cheaper than any other solution.

Yep, an adapter will work but get the apple one or a known quality one. The cheap ones are very variable and may only charge.
