Is a K&N Air Filter worth the extra cost

I’ve used K&N filters for over 40 years with no problems even with maf sensors. As I keep my cars for a long time i can clean and re-oil them many times. Interesting fact is that K&N filters are far more efficient than the hairs in your nose!

now you said it I do wonder whether a K&N filter for petrolheads nose was developed…

How about these for a well known petrolhead’s nose?

I thought of these…

Both flawed options though. For the first one I’m probably a bit mad but definitely not pretending to be one :joy: and it shows (so no need for wearing underpants on my head I guess )

The other one… I’m definitely not buying a chinesium who knows what contraption and stick it up my nose (or any other cavity  )

The oil is where the dust/grit ends up, assuming your cylinders are lubricated. If it all went out of the exhaust, there would be little need for air filters.

Sorry, I must be miss understanding! Your worry over minutiae is perhaps going to be miss leading for others.

Humans have a backup though and can cough up phlegm. Cars can’t do this - or CAN THEY?

Snap , modded original airbox to accommodate, try to keep hot air from filter

One of the first things I did when i bought my 1991 na 1600cc was remove the K&N filter and replace it with a standard air filter assembly purchased on e-bay. But then that’s because I want to keep it standard and not mucked about or modded in any way. Perhaps it’s an age thing ( I’m 70 after all!)

The backup system doesnt work though!

I can appreciate you wanting to keep it standard but it’s not an age thing!

Hi.
If you have any issues with insurance at all for a fitment of an aftermarket air filter then please feel free to drop me a line.

Dan.
