Is anyone a Fire Extinguisher Engineer???

steady on Johno, he may be AAC but he’s not a drug addict, why would he want to inject himself if he was on fire ??

I am sure you mean Ejection seat, LOL

Lol! But don’t mention injections, I’m booking in for two tomorrow and I hate needles!!!

Hi, If you mount any abc powder ext , it must be upright for it to operate fully. power can give poor visabilaty  and corrosive to metal  and electics, not good to breath in.  it will work through a pipe ( i have used a 4 ft rake tube on a wasp nest)   I would carry a portable ext  2kg  powder or AFFF  4kg powder if it will fitin boot. thanks DAVE  (senior service engineer)

Cheers mate,

The plot thickens…

AFFF (Aqueous Film Forming Foam) 4 kg powder!!

BCF is not available anymore. Its illegal.

I have 50 Firetrace extinguisher units in my office, and am looking to sell if anyone wants one. £20 each, but you will have to buy the trace tubing yourself. They are 2kg clean extinguishant gas, so wont dump lots of nasty powder into your engine bay…

I’ve done the Firetrace course, and have a good selection of bits for the units… as well as lots of experience, servicing and installing them.Im also a BAFE trained extinguisher engineer, so if you want some info, just ask.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGrehr6F9y4   Do you really want this going off in your car as you drive along…

If anyone wants a chuck, fitting it to their car, I dont mind them coming along to the office…  It will cost you a packet of biccies…

As a 30 year fireman , this the best suggestion so far.(ie. previous post).

Cheers Tilly, would that be digestives or hob-nobs? Wink

Jaffa Cakes…

Seriously, just pm me, and arrange a date… Dont mind helping out felow MX5’ers

Might give me a good excuse to fit one in my own MX5…

in my young mad years i fitted a system to my mini(went the whole ten yards with that full harness belts full cage extinguisher system) a few months later i was tailended and insurance company would not pay out so make sure you tell them as its not the sort of thing you can whip out quick

Totally agree there.
