Mmm…looks OK to me[;)]…
Thats 'cos you’re upside-down now Geoff.[:D]
Having to click ‘sign in’ more and more frequently on visits to the forum. Imediately after the upgrade, I only had to do it a couple of times and it seemed to ‘remember’. These last few days, I’ve had to do it pretty much every time - sometimes also having to re-enter e-mail address and password. What has the upgrade actually improved? Because from the point of view of the rank-and-file member, it seems to have made some things worse :(.
I was having to sign in as well but all that happened when I clicked on " Sign In" was that the My Discussions list showed on the RHS.
Since yesterday tho’ the " Sign In" has disappeared and the My Discussions list appearers on it’s own.
I think we’re all getting this problem - http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/Goof-UK/Other%20Stuff/Loginissue.jpg
Hey, we’ve got the proper date display back![:D] This must mean that someone listens.
Thanks very much.
[;)] it just keeps getting better and better...
Edit >>> haven't a clue why it's done that in big bold... maybe it's a feature???I also have access denied going in via favourites
Anybody know what to do. I have deleted cookies
OK, so there’s something very odd going on, and it only seems to have started happening since the upgrade so I’m posting it here …
My “posts you haven’t read” searches are missing things out. Take my “breakdown cover” topic, for example - I visited that at 8.45 tonight when I last posted to it. Since then I’ve visited the forum a couple of times and that thread hasn’t shown up in the “haven’t read” list. I thought it was odd that it hadn’t provoked more than one response in the course of most of an evening, so I just went directly to the thread for a look and, lo and behold, there are three posts since my last one. None of these three have propelled the thread into my “haven’t read” list on either of my visits inbetween times.
Something’s broken. And this software sucks. Big time.
Hmm, clearly no-one cares … [:(]
Yes we do care Gareth, but some things we cannot fix ourselves, we have to rely on the support people, and we all know what some of that genre can be like!!!
You can keep moaning on about how bad the forum software is, but as I have said before, it’s what we have got and I don’t believe that going back to the old stuff is the answer. A hell of a lot of new users are praising the new forum for it’s ease of navigation and intuitiveness. I believe that only about 6 of you guys are actually moaning and the rest are getting on with there lives on the forum
Oh, stop being so sensitive, Geoff. My last post to this thread wasn’t moaning - it was flagging up a problem that I’d encountered. If the forum admin team consider problem reports to be “moaning”, then it’s a sorry state of affairs.
Perhaps there are ‘only’ about 6 members criticising the new forum software - but what about the people who came, saw, went “ugh!” and buggered off again?
And as for “ease of navigation and intuitiveness” - hah! What’s intuitive about a system where new members have to be explicitly instructed how to get simple paragraph breaks into posts?!
As I see it, this website/forum and STHT are the two things that define the club in terms of how it’s perceived by the wider world - they’re the “faces” of the club, if you like. STHT is a force to be reckoned with, and a credit to those who produce it. But the bottom line is that the forum software (not the administration or the quality of the content, before anyone comes over all indignant and starts to jump up and down) is letting the club down. If you think that’s acceptable, then say so and I won’t bother flagging up any more problems with it.
That doesn’t sound like a moan about forum software, more a dig at everybody who is involved in trying to get this thing working properly
It was more of an observation, than anything else - two days since I posted a report about a forum feature that appeared as though it might have issues, and not so much as a “we’re looking into it” …
I’ve said before, and will say again, I have no major gripe with the administration of this forum (you’re doing what you can, I’m sure, with the tools you’ve been given - but as far as the software goes you simply can’t be expected to polish a turd). Neither do I have any issues with the forum content - quite the opposite, in the short time I’ve been a forum member I’ve found a lot of help among the forum posts.
Hi Gareth I appreciate your positive comments, I must tell you that as far as the forum and the support people are concerned the only point of contact, at least on an official and technical level, is Martin Curtiss. He’s away for a few days and will not have seen this current crop of complaints. I’m sure that he will respond when he returns.

hi - i’ve had to sign in as a forum member only although i am a full
member of the oc!!!
the first upgrade was pretty pants but this one takes the biscuit!!!
Why?
What happened when you tried to sign in as a club member?
it kept telling me my forum membership had not been activated - strange since i had
been using it since becoming a member in september 07!!!
i did all the delete cookies stuff etc. recommended by martin but all to no avail - it
has been incredibly frustrating to be perfectly honest.
i am not knocking the administrators or anyone else for that matter - but looking at it
logically if it ain’t broke why try to fix it!!!
