I've seen 'modified MK2 front wheel knuckles' for use on MK1s 🤔

henlo,

i’ve seen ‘modified’ MK2 front wheel knuckles available.
they say ABS ones are ok for non-ABS mk1.

it says you would need a thinner retaining nut to fit split pin through.
but since there’s 3, wouldn’t you need 3 per knuckle?
and isn’t the size of the nut a result of the size of the balljoints?
so wouldn’t you need 3 NB balljoints as well?

has anyone heard of this?
anyone tell me (in a sentence ) why a regular NB doesn’t fit?
any implications for bearing / shield / brake etc?

if you did one of them, at the front, would you have to do both?

thank ye

Link?

“Massive steering angle increase over standard knuckles & rack spacers.”

Obviously.

I guess its for people who want to break their MX5s. Its an offroad part, not for road use.

I think these parts are for drifting. That branch of Motorsport seems to call for wild amounts of steering angle. Most of the cars are heavily modified to suit. In Japan you can even get special tyres (impregnated with something I guess) so the copious smoke generated is coloured!
