JJB gym Bury Red Mx5 and Silver One

Spotted a red mx5 ?? PAM I think it was.  Must be a lady owner.

I also see a silver one every day on Wellington Street, Bury near the royal mail delivery office.

Hello who are you?

Hi Tracey, not my 5 but I recognise your name!! Did you go to elton High School??

Chris

Hi Chris, no sorry I went to coney green in radcliffe many many moons ago in 1983.

I am in the northwest club for mx5s.

Trace

Hey be careful with how many moons, I left in 81!! I’m in the northwest club also, not been on any runs yet though, just done the timing belt etc. Maybe soon though…

Hi,

I have not been on run since may 08, they go too fast for me to keep up and my car is old and doesn’t hold well on the road.  I went to the southport show with the club and camped overnight it was great.  But since then I have not been to the meetings apart from one in Sept.  My timing belt was done before I bought it in May07.  I had my wheels aligned in July but recently have felt the steering wants to divert off to the left or right when the car hits a slight bump or hole.  It almost feels slippery but it could be my imagination as I do notice the slightest thing with it.  Also feel the bilstein suspension on the front could be better even though they are only 18 months old.

Have you checked your tyre pressures recently, I used to find with an mgb i had that if the pressure was too high the car tended to wander when running over bumps. My cars pretty stock apart from the torsion bar and a 300w amp in the boot, came with the car. Just fitted a new soft top, tan interior and hood, rather have your black and red though

Yeh going to check my tyre pressures tomorrow, last time it did this they were a bit down and being higher it was better.  I have just bidded on two replacement rear lights for mine on ebay.  hopefully the seals are better than mine as I am hoping the condensation in the boot will get better if I replace the lights.  Would love to havea respray on mine, few nicks on headlights and bumper and boot.  But can’t afford that till I get a job!

I love my red interior,  drivers seat could do with a reupholster and more padding, just wrinkly.

Hi Trace, Mine’s a 91 but has a great paint job, only very minor cleaning scratches, no leaks or condensation and only minor wear on the drivers seat.  Just lucky that I knew the cars history for the last 8 years!!

I still have loads to do on mine in the spring.  Cubby clock needs connecting - have no idea how to, have also got a second hand panasonic battery tray etc, got to get a garage to change it over as the other one is set in really well.  Treat the boot to a dry out.  Speakers to go back in the doors, which was easy when I pulled them out.  find a headrest foam piece to set behind the headrest speakers.  Left passenger headlight wobbling when engine running and a few bolts missing from engine.  I have done quite a lot to my car myself.  I must have spent £1,500 already.  I have put some spares on the mx5 parts section if you want them?
