Hi all,
After months of trawling Autotrader I finally went to actually look at a car today which I hadn’t managed to get round to due to work commitments.
I’d specifically had my eye out for a 1.8 Euphonic. Since I had some time off over Christmas and was back home in Scotland I set out to have a gander at a Brilliant Black 1.8 Euphonic this afternoon. I’d never been inside the cabin of an MX-5 before let alone taken a test drive. To cut a relatively short story even shorter, around 1 hour later the deal was done and I’m now picking up the motor on New Year’s eve once a few things have been taken care of. So much for looking at a good few examples before taking the plunge…ah well.
27000 miles on the clock and 1 lady owner. My drive back down to Leeds on Sunday should be a bit more entertaining than it was with my 1996 Polo. Woohoo!
While I’m here does anyone have any recommendations in the Leeds/West Yorkshire area for getting the car properly setup? Also, the last service was at 23,000 miles so I believe another is due around now. Anything that I should be looking out for?
Cheers,
Tony
G’day mate, Welcome to the Forum
Welcome, what year is the car? Basic service should suffice… timing belt is not till 50k+ or 6 years (I think) [^o)]
Are you buying the car from a dealer?.. If so maybe try and get them to service it for you.
You might actually get away with another couple of thousand miles driving prior to servicing… I believe even the most considerate of us probably change oil etc every 6k so following this rule you have another 2k to go.
On the other hand its nice to know your starting point with a used car and get a service done straight away.
I am aware that the above may be no help whatsover… welcome anyway and heres to many years of smiley miles [:D]
Welcome Tony.
Sounds like you got yourself a nice car there, looking forward to seeing your pics [:D]
Cool…Euphonics have luverly alloys…and brilliant black is the coolest colour too…
Now get onto www.mx5parts.co.uk for LOADSA goodies. Guaranteed to personalise your car and empty your wallet!!!
But it’s worth it!
greetings tony.
have fun tomorrow when you pick it up[H]
Hi everyone,
Many thanks to you all for the warm welcome and helpful comments. To answer one of the questions, it’s a 2004 car. I ended up picking it up a day early and had a blast up to Loch Lomond this afternoon. Having a lot of fun already.
Only problems so far are that 3 of the 6 speakers are not working (Euphonic has a custom sound system) which I’m sure is a simple connection problem. Also, there is a slight pull to the left which seems to go with the camber of the road which may well be rectified by simply swapping the front tyres over (I don’t think they’re directional). Other than that it drives beautifully.
Anyway, I have a 3 month warranty thrown in by the dealer which should hopefully enable me to get these niggles sorted soon enough. I also took some photos today while the car is still reasonably clean. Hoping to get those up in next day or so.
Off to get my kilt on for Hogmany. Happy New Year to you all when it arrives.
Cheers,
Tony
