Hi everyone, I’m just wondering if anyone knows of a UK suppler of these?
Its a TSW centre nut retaining spring, TSW don’t make them any more and They don’t come up on Fleebay that often.
I’ve found one place that sells them so far and thats in Oregon, USA. For a set of 4 they want (Wait for it… Are you sitting down?)… 81 quid delivered (Without import tax !!!). Thats for 4x 6" lengths of frigin’ bent piano wire (If it comes to it I might even have a crack at making some myself).
I’m a little worried about killing someone with a centre nut or bolt cover flying off at 70mph, Most of the boy racers I’ve met wouldn’t be that bothered, But I’m a bit funny about that sort of thing (I’ve always tried to avoid going to prison, I don’t want another man insisting my name’s “Susan” if it’s all the same)
I didn’t pay a huge amount more than that for the wheels and tyres so I don’t want to spend 80 notes on bent paper clips !
So has anyone seen these for sale anywhere recently?
Hi, I am not quite sure what you want them for but, wouldn’t the sort of washer with a tang on that just needs bending up to a nut face do the same job. I have seen them on wheel centre nuts. There are also staking nuts if you can get hold of the correct size that you require.
I think we may not be on the same page here, I’ve a feeling you think I’m talking about hub nuts. What I’m on about are the big centre nuts that holds on the wheel nut cover plate on the old fake pin-drive type wheels TSW made in the late 90’s.
Because of the size of the nuts, The coarseness of the tread and the porosity of the alloy stub it screws on to, I feel that If I use enough thread lock to be sure it’s staying there… It’ll never come off again ! [:D]
I just managed to win a set on EBay (I’ve never liked that expression, You don’t “WIN” anything, You still have to pay ! [:S])… They went From a £15 start to £26 over the auction, Then up to 36 quid in the last seconds!
Well, At least I now also have a spare set of nuts, Wheel nut covers and a spanner…[:^)]
I’m still interested into where I may get more of these spring clips from though, It’s only a matter of time till I loose one (Or some thieving little retarded todgerless git steals one).
