I have found a small dribble of water in the left hand recess (wheel chock cubby hole) of my boot in my mk2.5 sport. It appears the water is coming from the light cluster mounting holes. I have removed the cluster and there are some rubber possibly neoprene washers there that looked rather worn and old. I think this is where the water is getting in but can’t be sure. Does anyone know of where to get replacement washers (one of them is a more complex figure of 8 shape) or another way of sealing this area, I am reluctant to use sealant as it will make bulb changes hard and will need redoing each time. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />I seem to have a similar problem at the front also on the left I often find a small trickle of water around the air intake is this the same problem? I haven’t wanted to take out the front cluster for fear of upsetting the headlight alignment.
Cheers
Could you make some thing up using draught excluder that has a sticky side on one side only or even better if you go to a glass supplier they have rolls of similar, only better, stuff as the draught excluder that they use for fitting double glazing into wood frames.
It is about 75p per meter.
Water can also get in via the boot alarm switch - if fitted on left hand side. Had this happen on my Mk.1 and effected the light cluster earthing. Sorted with Wet&Dry to cure Oxidisation and silicon sealant under the switch.
