You can still get nc1 for £4500/5k good examples, I’ve seen a few on eBay recently.

If it’s a daily and you need cruise control that would mean motorway? These cars aren’t amazing for motorway. My hardtop is pretty noisy on the motorway and like said they sit at high revs even at 60mph in 6th.

The only good thing about dealers is 30 days return by law on faulty good. They are often the biggest scam artists in the game as they are in it for a profit.

There’s a few nice one that pop up on this site from time to time.

Good luck :crossed_fingers:t3:

I would largely agree with you about dealers. A general rule although I tried few when looking for my next NC avoid buying a secondhand car off them if you can.
Many members will have had good dealing with them, I can’t say I’ve had that in general over the years.
My MX-5 buying experience has been mainly private buying, well 3 of them the fourth was from a well known MX-5 specialist in Sheffield, all excellent purchases. I know you can’t say that about all of them, yes you can find good ones.
One I looked at buying last year I would class it as being scammed but without actually any personal loss monetary wise or other. They were just a lying bunch of time wasters is all I can say about them.
It was at that point I gave up on looking at dealers cars.
Something did eventually come up privately and I grabbed it.

Alternate experience.

Originally I joined the OC with the intention of buying from here, the thinking being that the vehicle would have been looked after.

I soon found that private owners were too emotionally invested in their cars and over-inflated their worth. One chap in particular thought that sticking plastic chrome surrounds on every possible element of the interior enhanced the sale value by £700.

In the end I gave up seeking to buy from a private seller and bought a PRHT 2.0 Sport via a local independent dealer.

Have a look at Mazda dealers.

I just bought a 2007 Sport from a main dealer. At a distance so not inspected and I relied on the 12 month warrantee.

(They sent me a video of the underneath which is solid)

The brake caliper was dragging so they replaced discs and pads on the front axle and a new caliper. And they gave me a courtesy car and then delivered it 150 miles to me when fixed.

I then took it to a different mazda dealer because the gearbox was stiff from cold so they changed the oil. And the thermostat was weak so they changed that.

1 tyre had less than 3mm on it so was changed

The tyre foam was out of date so it was replaced.

I am happy that most of these problems wouldn’t have been noticeable after they serviced it and before it was put on sale given the short distance cars are test driven by mechanics.

Also having been serviced every 5,000 miles they probably thought an oil change was all they needed to do.

It’s how problems are addressed that is the measure. Mazda have been wonderful. No need to push hard. They just agreed to pay as it was warrantied.

I have a 13 year old car with 57,000 miles, 11 months of warrantee left and if the car fails a mot in October they will pay the first £750.

I also had a great experience with my RX8.

I would have had a huge battle with an independent dealer or no recourse on a private sale.

Good luck! :slightly_smiling_face:
