Hi all, thanks for letting me join, I’m looking to buy my first mx-5. I’m hoping to buy a MK2.5 with a 1.8L with an LS. Can anyone point me in the best place to start looking for one.

I bought mine through a MX-5 specific group on Facebook.
I could see that the seller had been a member for a while which gave me a little confidence.

If I were you Lee I would only bother looking for the 1.8 Sport trim (sometimes mistakenly referred to as “the svt”).
These have the 6-speed gearbox, big brakes, lsd, extra chassis braces, and heated leather seats.
Rust will be a concern at this point as even the newest examples are over 20 years old.

I stumbled across my ‘02 MX-5 Sport by complete accident, 8 years ago my search criteria were only MX-5, red and price.

The MK2 is a favourite of mine. Keep an eye on car and classic website, they usually have a selection from both private sellers and dealers. Good luck with your search.
