Can anyone advise me on service records, although my service records are stamped in my book having recently purchased the MX5 I have no history with the car, i.e. documentation, as the car has only covered 29,000 miles it has been serviced every year by MAZDA dealer, the stamped book shows the job number, mileage etc, if I were to contact the relevant dealers would they be able to print a copy of service from the job number ?.
I maybe expecting to much but would love to build up the history of my (sorry our, the wife has just walked in) car as the previous owner looked after it so well, have been in contact with the previous owner who was more than willing to share in verbal history but has no further documentation, she traded the MX in for a TT at her local Audi dealership and the following month in the motoring network all the documentation has gone missing, I even learnt the ICE that she had fitted had been taken and a “cassette radio” installed, great talking to her getting back to my question would I speak to the “service manager” at the relevant dealership or someone else ?. Hoping for some advice guys.
It depends on how far back you are looking to go, I theory, yes the service paper work should be filed at the dealership or be stored on their computer. One pit fall I can see being as you are located in Cambridgeshire, if the car was serviced at Priory or Herbert Robinson then they no longer exist so the history will not be available from them. It also depends on if the garage can be bothered to do the leg work for you. Maybe offer to pay for it?
Am more than willing to offer payment, have checked the web and both dealers are still listed as active who would be the best person to talk to at each dealership ? was going to PM you with this one but didn’t want to appear pushy thanks for advice maybe see you at The Manger Wednesday.
Depending on its age, most mazdas that go through authorised main dealers for service etc, have all the details logged on mazdas “echo” system. This should be viewable from any mazda dealer or approved repair centre.
If you would like yours checked then by all means PM me the reg number and I can look it up for you next time I am at my clients (a mazda authorised repair centre who has access to echo) and let you know what if any history is there.
harco tried on "echo for me with no joy but appreciate him trying, I tried to contact the 2nd of the Mazda main dealers but have found out that Streatham Mazda have ceased trading.
The 1st and supplying Dealer is still trading as a Mazda dealer so spoke to the service manager, a very helpful guy, he told me that ALL 2006 cars were put on “echo” but from 2002 it was dealers discretion whether to put older cars on, as mine is a 1999 SE he believes it was kept on as a paper record, so the chance of copies is unlikely.
Ah! well at least the service book has been stamped up by dealers, so not all bad.
Robbie can you advise how the electric aerial works ? mine raises when the ICE is turned on but does not retract when switched of, having to manually retract it, this can’t be correct… can it?
