Mark 1 skirts, any recommendations or advice welcome!

Hi,

I’m looking at getting a second Mark 1, which will be a Eunos and the one i’m looking at has been lowered in Japan and would really suit some side skirts i reckon. I was just wondering if anyone has any advice on these? are they hard to fit and paint etc…? how much should i be looking to pay for a pair? and what makes/brands do people recommend?

Cheers

Ben

The “best” in my opinion would be the near-unavailable black ABS plastic Mazda fitted as an accessory in 1995-7. Maybe too subtle for some. There are lots of others, including knocks-offs of originals. All variable quality. Mazdaspeed may be the better quality ones, but it all comes down to taste. I don’t particularly like them, for the reason that they can hide a litany of ills. You might want to consider colour coding the sills, as that in itself changes the appearance of lowered Mk1s considerably.

The sill skirts fit easy enough; usually involves drilling some holes and using screws. Some might use adhesive tape, on its own, or in addition to screw fixing.

Hmm, i’d not thought about what the skirts could hide. I’m kind of thinking trapped water between the skirt and sill left over time might not be a very good idea given the Mark 1 is now getting on a bit. I guess though that the skirts could be unbolted every now and then to check for any deterioration on the sills and wheel arches and i may pick a pair up if i see some decent quality ones at a good price.

Thanks for your help

Cheers

Ben
