- My model of MX-5 is: 2011 NC 2.0 litre, 5 speed, Kendo special edition
- I’m based near: Milton Keynes
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Koni Special Active Shock Absorbers
Does anyone have these on their car or actual experience of them and able to discuss the benefits and drawbacks to this setup?
Am I right in thinking these are gas struts? What do you currently have on at the moment?
Hi, I have BC BR Racing “coil overs” and am not happy with the comfort level.
I would like to find someone with actual experience of the Koni Special Active Shock Absorbers which, on first appearance, seem to offer a good solution moving forward
I had coilovers for 1 week before I sold them despite what people kept saying they felt like OEM but better, couldn’t stand them no matter the settings. Post on the American Miata forum as well maybe they have experience. I went back to Bilstein but new.
To clarify, when you say coil overs you are not talking about the Koni Special Active?
On my previous 2006 Sport I had the standard Blistein but with lowered springs and I was really happy with that setup. Just looking at my options
Standard for my model with lowering, Koni replacement, Koni special active or BBS NC Koni +their lowered springs
Unfortunately BBS are probably out of the running
No I had TEINs, not Koni. I currently have your old setup lowering + Bilstein and also really happy with that. Good luck finding out
Whilst I have never tried the active shock you’re mentioning I did use Koni Sport adjustable (yellow) shocks on a previous MX 5 with Eibach springs and it was spectacular handling and ride wise. I’ve never been able to replicate the feeling of that car.
Have BC BR racing coils set at 6 from soft and I find the suspension to be quite harsh dealing with out atrocious roads. I really want to move to something with more travel
