Meguiar`s Quik Clay

Hi guys, I got some Meguiar`s Quik Clay for christmas. Has anyone used this before, if so is it any good?
Thanks
Andy

Great stuff, after I’d done mine I coudn’t stop running my hands over the paintwork.
Smoooooooooth

Don’t forget to use something as a lube, I think I used Meg’s Detailing spray, or whatever came in the kit

Hi From Sunny Dubai, cold UK tomorrow though

Used it many times and good stuff for removing stuck on contaminants and a bit of overspray. Will make you paint feel as smooth as glass

Make sure you use some quick detailer or water with a little car wash added to keep it all running smoothly over the paint

Highly recommended stuff!!

Will remove all the dirt and contaminants in your paintwork, and it will be as SMOOOOOTH as glass. Water is fine as a lubricant.

 Meguirs is top stuff…

how do you use this properly, i got it as a gift too, the instructions are basic in my opinion, or is that really, it… i mean how much do i use, i knoe this kits isn’t cheap and i don;t wanna ruin the car and/or the clay the 1st time i use it and waste a good gift.

Voila!

Thanks for the replies guys.Good point Mackers, how do you apply it, do you spray and use the block in a circilur motion or rub up and down in straight lines?

Clay is great stuff! I completely understand your aprehension and remember it well; just go with the flow and use plenty of lube until you become more and more confident. You simply don’t want to feel it start ‘dragging’. No right or wrong way with regards to circular or straight line movements.

I know this may sound stupid so forgive me but don’t forget that once used you have no protection on the car at all so make sure you get something back on the car quickly. Also, a little tip is to split the bar into two; that way if you drop it (which renders it useless) you still have a bit to play with; turn it regularly so that any contaminates ‘fold’ towards the inside.

Finally, the very best of luck using it in this current cold snap; my advise would be to wait a little while until it’s a bit warmer as it makes the clay a lot more supple and easier work for your hands. Using it in this cold weather could give you a bad impression of it’s usability!

Thanks vin rouge, once you have rubbed it into paintwork do you leave it to dry or wipe off when wet.
Thanks
Andy

No need to leave to dry; do one panel at a time and wipe off the residue (mainly the lube) preferably with a microfibre cloth. It’s then advisable to wash the whole car down again before reapplying products. With this in mind don’t be too fusy about your first dry before claying; whilst I wouldn’t clay the car when wet it doesn’t have to be perfectly dried off.

Cheers mate thanks again for good info.

No one take any notice of the link I posted then? :stuck_out_tongue:   You can use the clay in the cold, but it advisable to put it in warm water for 5 minutes so that it has enough heat; the water doesn’t have any adverse affect on the clay.

Search Youtube for Meguire clay bar…great video! - even if there accent is uber annoying!

Yep I did, and it answered a lot of questions. Thanks for that!

Don’t think it’s been mentioned…Also works well on glass and wheels
