Missing Lock nut

All

I’ve had my Mk2 1.8 for about 6 months now and I was going to take the wheels off to have a look at the pads and disks. However - when I got the jack out I found the last owner had either kept or lost the wheel nut locker!!

The wheels are standard mazda’s and the lock nut is a sort of star pattern - is this standard and can I get a replacement from Mazda? I had a look on Mx5 parts and they don’t seem to do them.

Thanks for any help.

Could you show a picture so that we can see what shape and the size is?

 I don’t know about anyone else…but I can’t see a picture…just a load of machine code…try again?

No, just a lot of Letters & numbers.

Sorry about that!!

Try this:

Wheel nut

I know a way, but removing lock nuts is not something I want to share with the whole forum/world so I’ll send you a PM.

Cheers for the help.

You can buy just a key for that type of locking nut, they are all the same… I’ll try and find a part number.

Robbie

I have done anything yet - so If you find that part number…

cheers

That photo is a bit worrying 'cos it looks exactly the same as my locking nuts (I’m in Bristol, so can’t help I’m afraid).  I hope Mazda ask for some proof of ownership and don’t just sell them to any passing scally. If I had expensive wheels, I think I’d be looking for better security.

hhmm, don’t hold your breath, just realised my brochure is at a mates house who is on holiday… Are you going on the Fish & Chip run with Northampton area this Sunday? If so I can get the nuts off for you with my Key and fit you 4 normal nuts in there place for now.

Thanks for all the help - one of the guys at work had the same set so I’ve managed to get them off.

Cheers

Two styles available from Mazda; both are around £15. The “standard” set are actually McGuard, and so is a bit of a bargain (non-Mazda places seem to charge £30+ for a similar set). These should be carried in stock. The other style is a special order from Mazda Japan.
