Having just removed the rear callipers from my 07 Mk 3 to fit new seals and pistons I have forgotten which way the sliding pins fit. One has three faces machined along the pin and one is a round pin. Which one goes to the top? Also is copper slip recommended for lubricating the pins?
Red rubber grease for the pins is one product, the one I use as it’s in contact with the rubbers seals.
As for the pins, can’t remember.
To be honest I can’t see how it makes any difference as long as the pins move relatively freely. But happy to be told otherwise.
Finding the correct form of lubrication of the pins is a bit of a conundrum, but my own feeling is that any form of grease that can withstand relatively high temps should be ok. And I routinely use copper grease.
