MK1 1.6 (115hp) track upgrades

Hi all.

Took my MX5 for its first track day the other day and am now a bit hooked.

The car felt great but was let down by tyres (not sporty at all, but not bad!) and power.

The question I’m here to ask is what tyres should I buy? (15 inch road legal) and what cheap ish power upgrades can I do?

Also, would people recommend the mk2 sports seats to hold you in a bit more?

Current spec:

Pod air filter (k and n), may actually be detrimental to power…
Mx5 parts cat back
Mx5 parts silenced de cat
Tein coilovers
GC fab roll bar
14 deg timing
1.8 brake upgrade with yellow stuff pads (did very well)

Any help would be great.

“Track” settings on a Hunter laser is probably worth a couple of BHP per £ and likely cheaper (even possibly) more beneficial than emptying your wallet on rim & rubber experiments.
It’s often said…much or a 5’s “speed” is in the chassis.
