I have a Mk2.5 Sport and I have foglights in the front bumper (which I believe are standard) which have a clear plastic disc mounted on 2 black plastic clips which protect the actual glass lense of the foglamp.
One seems to have gone missing (both black plastic clips snapped and nolense anymore) so I assume they did the job, as the light behind is unmarked. I had a quick look on the web (e-bay, MX-5 Parts etc) and no one seemed to sell the covers, so I rang Magna Mazda (I am based in Southampton) to get one, even at dealer prices…
I would seem that these are not standard with the model, but are an optional extra ('02 Mk2.5 Sport) and further more only come as part of the complete kit with a new light (cost circa £180ish from the dealer!!). Could anyone please confirm if they’re right about it being optional (I am not the original owner of course!) and also if anyone hasa cover set (perhaps after changing a fog lamp) that I could buy off them then I would gladly send beer tokens!!
I am a little concerned with it being this time of year (grit etc) that the lamp is fine at the moment, so I think I might just tape up the lense to protect it till I get a new cover!
Many Thanks
I believe that they are standard spec on the sport
Have you tried MX5 Heaven -http://www.mx5heaven.co.uk/? Give them a call, they have a wide range of parts new & used available
ALSO:
It is worth remembering that parts like foglights are not normally specific to a car. I cannot say for sure, but I’d suspect that the ligths are made by a company like Hella, and are fitted to a lot of cars out there.thus ebay Listing implies that this is the case here as well, so a local breakers/scrappy might be a good bet.
The foglight is made by Cibie.
There’s various posts on the old forum which mention they are the same as Citroen Picasso foglights.
Not sure you would get the cover though that your missing.
