Mk2 Air-con Condenser

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get a air-con condenser for a 2004 reg Mk2? I got a quote of between £675-£716 from Mazda (yikes!).

Managed to get an on-line quote via 1st Choice Spares site for £115 (including delivery), only problem is that I think the condenser is not the right model (NE51-61-480C). When I did a search online, the OEM part no. should be NE0161480. Again, did I get the OEM part no correct?

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Hi, Steven,

I’ve been slowly building up a set of parts to get aircon retrofitted to my Mk 2.5.  Which have mostly been secondhand, as quite a few are no longer available from Mazda.  I found the condenser very often gets severely damaged (hence unusable) in a shunt.  And so far as I can tell, there are no pattern parts available.  Like the Mk2, the condenser on the Mk 2.5 is over £600 from Mazda (they’re probably the same on 2 & 2.5).

I have got a couple of spare units off Mk 2.5s scrapped because of corrosion.  I’m trying to persude a company that manufactures and repairs these units to re-fin the better of the 2 (which has a small area of missing fins, but otherwise in VGC).  The following will probably be too slow for you, however I’m going to ask them to quote for a small run of pattern condensers.  As I think the Mazda price is outrageous when compared to units of a similar size to other manufacturers.

Kind regards

Pete

Try Autolink

Just be aware that any secondhand unit may need fettling.  Like bent or missing cooling fins.  Like both of mine.  They live a hard life.

Give Aaron Radiators a call. They list a condenser for a Mk2, they could possibly confirm that is the correct one for your car.

http://www.aaronradiator.co.uk/products/Condenser_Mazda_MK5_Mk2_98_1_8_5MZ145-10355-1023.html

They give the oem part number as NC10-61-480.

Hope this helps,

Martin.

Waste of time using a s/hand condenser, they will all be rotten/corroded.I would find a local a/con specialist that may be able to use a universal condenser and modify the pipe work to suit.Alternatively ,try these people;http://www.autoairconparts.co.uk/

OK, I think I’ve found somewhere that thinks they can reproduce the part in question using mine as a pattern.  It looks like cost will be considerably less than Mazda.  I’ll keep you all posted.

Kind regards

Pete
