We may be upgrading our '97 mk1 to a mk2. I’ve heard the clutch on mk2s doesn’t lend itself to be slipped and is rather on off, is this true.
Any other comments?
In particular we are after power steering and electric windows and mirrors, are these all standard on mk2s?
Cheers
Jeremy
Clutch is the same on MK1 & MK2. Just beware that some early NB F/L suffered clutch juddar issues. There will be a topic in the Garage transmission FAQ no doubt.
Power steering is standard, as are electric windows. Electric mirrors only on iS or Sport.

Hi, I’m also looking at Mk2s at the moment. I have one on the shortlist 1999 1.8 for £2295, however some questions:
Being only a 1.8 whats it missing that a 1.8s would have?
Its sills on both sides are bubbling underneath on the bottom - should I just avoid or is it easliy resolved?
It needs a new hood, one would cost £400? but how difficult a DIY fit are they?
Guidance warmly welcomed! Ian

Sills could be perforated; more difficult to fix and make shipshape on a Mk2 than a Mk1,

The 1.8iS MK2 has ABS, LSD, Nardi 3 spoke steering wheel and stainless steel kick plates. Features not found on the 1.8i

It’s very rude to move someones post and not tell them!!!
There are plenty of cars with no body problems so if there is rust walk away.
You’re right, in fact I think all 1.6’s except the higher power NA 1.6 have manual windows! Not 100% sure about NB F/L 1.6’s… but we digress!
