Mk3 Paintwork

With prices of the new shape MX5 tumbling, I’m hoping to finally take the plunge and get myself a tidy roadster.  I found what seems to be a nice example at a local dealer in Winning Blue.  It’s been on the forecourt for some time and the price has dropped to £9K, the car being a 2006 (55) 2.0 Sport with just over 20K on the clock. The price seems very reasonable and I particularly like that colour, but on close inspection I noticed that the lacquer seems to be coming off the front bumper.

I wondered if this is a common problem on these cars as I’ve never experienced it on any car I’ve ever owned.  If so, does it apply just to cars with metallic paint and is it more prevalent with particular colours?  It always seemed a shame to me that Mazda stopped making the MX5 in Winning Blue, as the car just looks so good in that colour.  The current range of colour options seems to have been around for ever.  Does anybody know if they are planning to introduce a new range with the facelifted Mk3 next Spring?

Many thanks for any advice regarding the paintwork, or any general advice on what to look for with a Mk3.  I noticed that the drivers window was badly fogged up, but put this down to lack of recent use.

The fogged drivers window could be down to blocked roof drains, they can be sorted under manufactuers warranty. I would suspect accident repair if I saw peeling lacquer on the front bumper.
