MK3 Roadster Coupe 2.0 Sport suspension

So, after all the problems with our Eibach springs and damper, I thought that the new set would be the end of it.  Not so.  After six weeks of not using the car because of the crap weather, out we go for a run. Only to find that the car has developed ‘rear steering’.On a straight road with no camber and hard accelleration, the car ‘veers’ to the right on declutching to change gear.  The dealer is having a look on Monday and suspects the LSD - anbody have any Ideas please?  CLIVE

Don’t know if it’s related - I’m not a suspension expert - but one of the members of the Scottish forum had problems with twisted bushes after Eibachs being fitted to his Mk3… some info here http://mx5scotland.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7189

Might help, I don’t know… maybe worth looking at/checking if not already done so? [:)]

Lola, you took the words from my keyboard…

I had the eibachs fitted by Mazda and made the point of asking that the front Top bushes be tightened when the suspension is fully weighted… the service manager almost went ballistic " do you not think we would do that?" he quized… Guess what, they did, the car felt unbalanced, would wander all over the road on a bumpy surface, and cornering was a fight between DSC permanently on and tail out, now I don’t mind a bit of sideways driving but the car felt awful.

I didn’t remember the car being that jumpy on the test drive. I had it aligned at WIM on tuesday and as soon as Tony saw it he said the front is to high, they have preloaded the bushes and guess what, they had, front arch now hugs the wheel as it should. Now it is superb, so go back to the dealer slap the service manager and get them to align it properly and unload the top front/rear wishbone bushes.

The Mazda workshop manual tells them to tighten it with the weight OFF the suspension. Hope you get it sorted asap.

That’s good infomration that you very much indeed.  I’ll discuss this with Norton Way Mazda on Monday and post the results here.  Thanks a lot Tim. Oh, tell me about your racing beat exhaust please.

There’s a problem with the rear Geometry, probabally the toe angle, be sure to get a printout.

Clive… bought from Rotechniks for £345 delivered to the door, fitted on the drive in 30 mins, looks much better than the stock system, helps the engine to breath as well.  Sound is a low rumble on tickover and only noticable when it’s floored…[:D] even SWMBO said have you put the exhaust on…it’s very quite, she hated the Mk1 as it was too noisey.

This is their phone number here had them in stock last week, dispatched next day…

Old - and that is snow [:S] dedication eh!
