In a good place. My baby has flown through the MOT with some great comments from the tester and a lot of interest from the workshop crew.
I carried out a lot of work over the winter layup and now it feels great that it has been recognised as being in top order. I have already proved to myself how well the car drives since the work!
On my MOT report in observations it details “DECEL Brake test as too low for rollers” It’s cool having a car that is too low for the brake test rollers and drives like it is on rails…
Has anyone else had the “DECEL Brake Test” comment on their MOT?
How low was yours at the time? I have fitted -35mm eibach springs which are still within the Mazda spec sheets for suspension geometry settings. Maybe my tester just wanted an excuse to drive the car for the deceleration test!
My record is five MoT testers crowded under my car having a good look and discussion. It’s always nice to have compliments on how well I look after the underside of the car.
My MOT testers, who I’ve used for years, once said to me, we road test the brakes on your car, we don’t use the rollers. Both NC’s were lowered at the time of ownership.
Several years ago, my local MOT tester (very thorough and honest) asked if the Niseko had an LSD and when I said yes, he hooked “my magic box” (his words) to the driver’s seat frame and took the car for its brake test along the side road.
He showed me his repeated stored results on its print-out and they were near identically l-r balanced at the different pedal and handbrake pressures he tried; “Very good, pass”.
Thank you Mr Gill.
I assume it was a decelerometer that could also sense yaw etc. I still don’t know how it achieved such apparently accurate results.
Yes I think he mentioned the diff also in the conversation. The original proprietor (his son took over) used to restore/repair and run classic cars, old skool.
