I always wanted a Gixer
Love the Thruxton!
Love the ThruxtonâŚdrooool
The Thruxton is beautiful. My friend has been looking for a modern retro classic for Sunday trips to the coast when there is time to slow down and look at the scenery. This looks perfect for it, though Iâm sure the position and the bars tempted you to crack on!
I am currently running a few bikes; a Ducati Monster 1200S and a Street Triple 675R, oh, and a Moto Guzzi 850T3 that has been a long term restoration (30 years)!
The other half was persuaded that the ND was a sensible purchase as she could come out with me tooâŚ
I wanted one since I saw the first ones come into the country at Yamaha in Brooklands in the 90s. I tried to buy one in 2003 but all the ones I found were ex track bikes or fairly battered, I ended up buying a Triumph Daytona 955i, which was rapid but top heavy and slow to turn.
Black and gold Street TripleâŚperfect!
Thanks, They have always been in the 10 best bikes list and I thought I would get one before Iâm in my dotage - and Iâve got to say it was a revelation fast, light and really nimble.
The later models are meant to be an improvement with ABS and more gadgets, but this one has the short first gear and round headlights which to me are more iconic. I have returned it to original spec and added a quick shifter which is great fun.
Just a few pics of some of the bikes Iâve had over the years. At present I still have the Ducati which I bought new in 1994 and the Guzzi V85.
The MX5 in the background of one of the pics was replaced by a 2007 1.8l which in turn was replaced by a 2019 1.5l
I was quite late to the party with bikes, didnât get my first bike until 2015 at the age of 40. Got a Honda CBF to get me through my CBT and license, the inspiration was to cut my over an hour commute down to 20 mins or so.
After using that for a bit (absolutely great little bike for commuting though traffic to be fair).
I got this BMW GS F650
Then changed that for my current bike a Suzuki 600 Bandit
I got that in 2017, but a change of job meant that I didnât do much commuting on it and now it mostly stands in the garage not doing too much.
Oh, and hereâs Lego models of the GS and the Bandit, they are coincidence not on purpose.
I had the same colour GPZ900R in 1992.
(Itâs now blue and still going apparently).
A great bike in the day.
Had to sell it to buy a bloody caravan!
I owned that one for 18 years and really regret selling it. It reallyis beautiful bike. Its actually up for sale again and Iâm so tempted tobuy it back.
Iâll agree with that.
My first was a Suzuki T250J. 1973
Than the Suzuki GT 500.
Joined the Army so a break for 9 years.
Yamaha T80 Townmate for work!
The rage at work was MZâs in the mid 80âs!
Bought an ETZ 300, that was actually quick little fun bike.
Then the GPZ900R.
Gave up for another few yearsâŚ.
Then a Honda Scooter 600 silver wing (yea I know).
Wife wanted something more comfortable so bought a Honda GL1800 Gen2 Goldwing in 2012.
Gave up again and bought the MX NC 3.75 in 2016 to date.
Great times in different ways over a lifetime.
Get the 900R back!
I had a T250J in the 70s when i was still living with my parents. I brought it into my bedroom while i changed the crankshaftâŚhappy days.
P.S. Apologies for the picture quality.
Exhibited my CX500 today at the Turriff classic show. I felt very proud at peopleâs comments on it.
Now thatâs a bike and a half!
I had a Honda 4 and a CX500 back in the day. Now have a Suzuki V Strom 650 that I rode around the world. Now selling as its now too heavy for me.
Round the worldâŚthat is brilliant!
