I have never had any rude comments about my car, just the opposite in fact, people say how nice they are and are they expensive and strangely, what make is it. [:)]
I have the same reactions. The Eunos badge really confuses people, even those who are generally in to cars. Makes you realise that most people look at the badge more than the car!
Also, as my car has an " ageless " registration number it is usually thought to be only three or four years old instead of nineteen. [:D]
I get loads of questions about my Roadster, it only has one badge on it, an Eastern Region UK badge. Here in Australia, no one knows what/where on earth that is. I’ve heard mummbles of Ferrari, Maserati, some funny kit car[*-)]. When I tell them it’s an MX5 most people say wow, what a great little car. They seem to be well liked over here
Wot he said, but he only missed out the bit where you should feel sorry for proper drivers who don’t have an MX, who can’t join the OC and don’t make so many new friends, who realise that they drive characterless repmobiles and who find they can’t keep up on real roads anyway. Try to be nice to them; if they really can drive, they don’t know what they are missing, if they can’t, please ask them to be careful.
These days they have to! With the exception of fun stuff, like the '5, all modern cars are so similar the badge is often the only way to tell them apart!
Only yesterday, whilst a my Dad’s house a little lad aged about 9 came to the door with a petition for him to sign. I was sat in the lounge having a cuppa, the MX5 on Dad’s drive. I overheard the lad say “I like your car” …
Dad did own up and told him it was mine, to which the lad simply said “Whoar”
enough said really.
Even my Dad, who is 83, loves being in the MX5 as a passenger…
If someone ever says anything derogatory about it, I don’t argue or get involved because I like everyone who has ever owned one knows what a brilliant car it is.
