MX5 ND 1.5 Weeping Coolant from unpressurised overflow tank?

My car has recently developed an
issue causing it to leak small ammounts of coolant from the overflow tank, it dosen’t seem to be majorly affecting levels but is definately a new development. It seems to be weeping from the cap, i’ve taken the cap off and looked at the seal and it was faded white and was sopping wet with coolant. I’ve ordered a new cap from MX5 parts, is this likely to fix it or have i got a more serious problem, it only happens when fully warmed up.

I’m going with dodgy seal , maybe cap cross threaded at some point ?

Leaking under pressure would point to one of the above …just my humble opinion.

The vent isn’t blocked is it?

I didn’t think that the cap screws on. I thought it was just like a windscreen washer reservoir cap. Is the overflow reservoir full and the overflow pipe blocked like Roadie suggests?
